The seven categories all look like "filters," but their production-line process routes differ greatly. This section breaks down the differentiated processes by category, helping buyers understand "why different lines in the same factory differ in capacity, cost, and inspection focus."
I. Air filter (Air Filter, af)¶
[Industry Knowledge] Core process: filter media pleating → PU frame / end cap foaming one-piece forming (panel type hy-af-panel/hy-af-nano) or winding around a steel center tube (round hy-af-round / heavy-duty hy-af-heavy).
- Panel type: flat pleats + PU foam frame all around; the process focus is on pleat-height consistency and PU foam sealing.
- Round / heavy-duty: star-pleated roll + punched steel core; heavy-duty additionally stacks a "safety layer" secondary media; the process focus is on winding density and safety-layer lamination.
- Inspection focus: pleat height, sealing-surface flatness, initial differential pressure and dust holding capacity (heavy-duty).
II. Cabin filter (Cabin Filter, cf)¶
[Industry Knowledge] Structurally similar to the panel air filter (flat pleats + plastic/PU frame), but airflow-first, low differential pressure, and may stack an activated-carbon layer or HEPA layer.
- Process focus: the uniformity of the activated-carbon lamination (
hy-cf-carbon), the pleat-damage protection of the HEPA layer (hy-cf-hepaH13, easily damaged during pleating). - Inspection focus: particle efficiency, gas adsorption (activated carbon), airflow/differential pressure, dimension fit (the cabin filter slot is a hard dimension).
III. Oil filter (Oil Filter, of)¶
[Industry Knowledge] Two forms with completely different process routes:
- Spin-on (
hy-of-spinon/hy-of-hd/hy-of-longlife): a full assembly line (see Spin-On Assembly Line) — the most steps and the heaviest metalworking. - Cartridge (
hy-of-cartridge): no metal housing; only pleated element + plastic/thermoset end caps, for European/Japanese "replace element only" vehicles. Fewer steps, but high requirements on end cap positioning and sealing (the element must fit precisely into the OEM housing).
IV. Fuel filter (Fuel Filter, ff)¶
[Industry Knowledge]
- Spin-on (
hy-ff-spinon): same as the oil filter spin-on line, but with high fuel compatibility requirements (seals / rubber compounds resist gasoline/diesel). - In-line (
hy-ff-inline): small-diameter straight-through element, aluminum/plastic housing + quick-connect fitting; process focus on the quick-connect sealing O-ring and pressure resistance. - Water-separating (
hy-ff-water): composite media + water separation layer; process focus on water separation efficiency and the bottom drain-valve structure.
V. Wiper blade (Wiper Blade, wb)¶
[Industry Knowledge] A completely different process system — no filter media; the core is rubber strip extrusion + graphite coating + steel spring / frame forming. hy-wb-beam (frameless) is shaped by arc-pressure steel strips, hy-wb-hybrid (composite) adds a plastic frame, hy-wb-rear (rear wiper) uses a short strip. Inspection focus is on strip wiping cleanliness, quietness, weather resistance — not filtration parameters.
VI. Transmission filter screen (Transmission Filter Screen, tf)¶
[Industry Knowledge] Nylon mesh / metal mesh coarse filtration; hy-tf-pan (oil-pan filter screen) and hy-tf-kit (filter screen + gasket kit) focus on mesh-hole uniformity and oil-pan gasket sealing. Assembly/service scenario, requiring a matching gasket.
VII. LED lights (LED Lights, led)¶
[Industry Knowledge] An electronic product, unrelated to filter processes — the core is CSP LED chip mounting + aluminum heat sink + driver circuit. hy-led-h4/hy-led-h7 are replacement bulbs, hy-led-bar is a light bar. Inspection focus is on luminous flux, color temperature, heat dissipation, waterproof/dustproof (IP). Its certification claims (CE/RoHS) also differ from other categories (ISO 9001/IATF 16949).
Differentiation quick-reference table¶
| Category | Core process focus | Key inspection | Certification emphasis (framework) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Air filter | Pleat height + PU seal | Differential pressure / dust holding capacity | ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 |
| Cabin filter | Activated carbon / HEPA lamination | Particle efficiency / adsorption | ISO 9001 |
| Oil filter | Housing drawing + end cap + valve | Leak-tightness / burst / bypass valve | ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 |
| Fuel filter | Fuel compatibility + water separation | Seal / water separation efficiency | ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 |
| Wiper blade | Strip extrusion + coating | Wiping / weather resistance | ISO 9001 |
| Transmission filter screen | Mesh + gasket | Mesh uniformity / seal | ISO 9001 |
| LED lights | Chip mounting + heat dissipation | Luminous flux / waterproofing | CE / RoHS |
Editorial view¶
[Editorial Opinion] When evaluating a factory, do not lump all categories under the single hat of "filter factory." Check whether the line matches the product: a factory that makes spin-on oil filters may not have a PU-foam air filter line, and a factory with filter lines almost certainly cannot also produce LEDs on the side. The technical differences are so large that "cross-category in one factory" often means a category is outsourced or private-labeled — this is worth probing during a factory audit.
